Mr. Balfour is responsible for portfolio construction and implementation of investment policy for individuals, families, endowments and foundations. He seeks to align each client’s investment strategy with their financial planning objectives by taking into consideration time horizon, risk tolerance, income requirements, taxes, and other unique factors. He also coordinates with family members, outside advisors and with other members of the clients’ professional team. He has over 20 years of experience in the investment industry.
Prior to joining F.L.Putnam, Jim worked as a global economist at Loomis Sayles for 16 years with roles developing global macroeconomic outlooks and asset allocation strategies. He also worked at Lowell, Blake & Associates as a portfolio manager where he developed investment strategies and built customized portfolios for individuals and charitable organizations.
Jim currently serves on the Board of the Concord Carlisle Community Chest as a Treasurer and runs a 200-mile race across NH annually with a group of 12 (and a team of 48) people each fall as a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) in support of finding a cure for of type 1 diabetes.
